This blog(podcast) will be my attempt at composing a short theme or motif daily in order to track my progress as a composer. Hopefully this will become a good source of criticism and inspiration for me.
This is my try at a flute choir. It's split into 4 parts (SATB) using piccolo, flute, alto flute, and bass flute. Thinking back on it now the piccolo probably should have been an octave higher. I know for next time though.
I liked it (: Generally, I prefer flute choirs in all soprano flutes, simply because I love the low register, and when played well it sounds sooo sweet. I agree the piccolo could have stood out more, but I don't know that another octave would have sounded great against the bass/alto flutes. As much as I love bass/alto flutes, they're pretty pointless. You should write a thicker choir, using all types. piccolo, soprano, alto, tenor, bass, & contra. :D Contrabass flutes are the coolest things EVER.
I couldn't find the piccolo part until I turned my speakers to max, and then it was still shadowed out greatly. Probably part to blame are my speakers, but I am agree with the opinion that it could have stood to be a tad more prominent.
Joey is having too much flute fun. He is like a fanfic author with a crossover. Oh wait, that's not a simile.
